Spike Jonze meets GAP

Spike Jonze meets GAP

I came across a GAP commercial, directed by Spike Jonze . Titled "pardon our dust"

In a GAP shop, shop assistants start messing products and displays. They are gradually destroying the shop itself. In the end of the film, a message "pardon our dust, the all-new GAP is coming" appears in the background of the complete mess.

Idea is very unique and very Spike Jonze. Interesting as a commercial. However I could not enjoy watching it comfortably. What do you think of a comapny which vandalises their products produced by the developing countries? The company is GAP, which is always a focus of anti-globalisation criticism. I know that's not the point of this commercial and the company doesn't mean they don't value their products.

I like Spike Jonze, but I'm not convinced...

Thunder Perfect Mind - Prada Parfums

Prada Parfums

A DVD arrived at my office today. It is the DVD for press from Prada.

Four-and-half-minute promotional movie is called "Thunder Perfect Mind", produced for the introduction of Prada's new parfum. Directed by Jordan Scott and Ridley Scott. Starring Daria Werbowym, born in Canada and has Ukrainian parents.

The film seems to be shot in Berlin. We can find many landmarks such as Potsdamer Platz, the TV tower and the Berlin Wall.

Very inspiring film and very beautiful heroine.

You can also watch the film at pradaparfums.com.

Guardian TV ad

Guardian TV ad

This is part of a promotional campaign the Guardian launches along with the newspaper's renewal on Monday.

Cranes at the Wembley Stadium starts refurbishing the paper design and layout. Headings and paragraph dances and flies. Chimpanzee Bush throws a bone for Blair. Bla bla bla. Watch it anyway.

24 on Japanese ad

Jack Bauer, the hero of the popular drama, 24, is now on the ad of Caloriemate, nutritionally-balanced snack food. This poster was at a metro station in Tokyo.

By the way, this picture above was taken with my mobile phone's camera. Good quality, isn't it?

New categories: ads and mags in Japan

This blog is very haphazard and talks about this and that. There is no standard.

Here is my plan that will cretae new categories and probably cause the more haphazard or chaotic blog. No, I'm just kidding, it's not that bad.

I just want to write about magazines and advertisements in Japan. Having seen magazine racks at WHSmith and studied a little bit about UK magazines in Cardiff, I realised Japanese magazines were quite sophisticated. In terms of design, the magazines are worthwhile to look at.

And so are Japanese advertisements. They are also interesting and can be funny or cool. I think I didn't study PR, but journalism in Cardiff. Did I?

The picture above is the poster of a bottled tea. I just wanted to put it. No meaning. You can watch it at here, if you want.

World's fast intelligent shoe

From TV spot

Spike Jonze has done a great job. He's created a fantastic world for Adidas' new TV spot of introducing the Adidas_1 trainer. You can watch it at the link below.
